Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) has announced the launch of a new Web site, “Campaign Against Migraine” (http://www.campaignagainstmigraine.com), to help migraine sufferers across the country learn more about their condition and how to better treat it.

According to the Migraine Research Foundation, more than 30 million Americans suffer from migraines.1 Yet migraine continues to be a poorly understood condition that is frequently undiagnosed and undertreated.

In fact, according to a recent survey of more than 9000 migraine sufferers, 8 out of 10 may not be on the right medication to treat their migraine.2 “With the availability of effective treatments today, the fact that so many sufferers are potentially not getting the relief they should is disturbing,” said Elodie Ramos, PhD, Migraine Portfolio Medical Lead, U.S. Brands. “We’re giving patients information that can make a positive change in their lives.”

The “Campaign Against Migraine” Web site offers patients tools to help them better understand the types of headaches they may experience and an interactive quiz to help them determine how well their current treatment is working. Among the Web site’s other features is the ID MigraineTM quiz, a migraine diary to help sufferers record symptoms and migraine triggers, and a doctor discussion guide.

“The launch of ‘Campaign Against Migraine’ is the cornerstone of Pfizer’s commitment to migraine sufferers,” said Marketing Director Christopher Hogan. “Migraine represents one of the world’s 20 most disabling illnesses, and we’re expanding our efforts to reach out and educate health care professionals and their patients.”
