Use of MicroNIR to optimise fluid bed drying and to reduce waste at tablet compression
This webinar took place on 8 December 2016 and is available to watch now on demand
ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Pfizer has been studying the use of MicroNIR for several years and has been working to develop fit-for-purpose packages for specific pharmaceutical unit operations.
This webinar discussed two of these packages:
- A MicroNIR used to monitor fluid bed drying operation and included inside a process optimisation algorithm targeted at reducing cycle time and/or energy consumption.
- A MicroNIR used to monitor API concentration during tablet compression operation to allow reduction of tablet waste at start-up or shutdown.
Pierre-Philippe Lapointe-Garant, Manager, PAT Projects, Pfizer
Pierre-Philippe has been working at Pfizer in the field of PAT for the past 10 years and has helped develop technologies for solid oral dose or biotechnology manufacturing. He has a bachelor’s and Master’s in Chemical Engineering from the Université de Sherbrooke.
Pierre-Philippe discussed the use of Viavi NIR at Pfizer and the advantage of fit-for-purpose technologies. He also discussed the use of NIR for tablet press feed-frame analysis.
Prof. André Desbiens, Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Université Laval
André has been teaching and researching in the field of automatic control for more than 20 years at Université Laval. He has deep expertise in real-time optimization, predictive controller and observer design. He has been collaborating on pharmaceutical manufacturing optimisation projects for more than 5 years.
André discussed the use of Viavi NIR used to monitor fluid bed drying operation and included inside a process optimisation algorithm targeted at reducing cycle time and/or energy consumption.
