The Loughrea headquartered Company was the only Irish indigenous Pharma company shortlisted for the prestigious award and was selected ahead of multinational companies including AbbVie, GE Healthcare, MSD and Perrigo Company. It is the first Irish company to win the overall award, which has previously been awarded to global companies.

Chanelle also won the Pharma Company of the Year (Large) category at the awards which showcase the pharmaceutical sector in Ireland. Michael Burke, founder and managing director of Chanelle Pharma was presented with the Awards.

Ireland’s largest manufacturer of generic medicines for human and animal health, Chanelle Pharma is one of Ireland’s leading exporters trading with over 90 countries worldwide. The company’s pioneering approach to product innovation has been a key factor in the company’s substantial growth in recent years. With over 96 products in its R&D pipeline, Chanelle is well positioned to continue to expand into new markets.

In September, the Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney, TD officially opened a new €10 million manufacturing facility at Chanelle Pharma in Loughrea. A new €86 million investment programme, creating an additional 350 new jobs over the next five years was also announced by company founder Michael Burke. Currently 550 people are employed by Chanelle in Loughrea, Jordan and the UK. Burke is targeting the US market for future growth.
