Sigma® Life Science reaches milestone in gene editing

Sigma Life Science, the innovative biological products and services research business of Sigma-Aldrich® (Nasdaq:SIAL), today announced a major breakthrough in the development of its proprietary CompoZr zinc finger nuclease (ZFN) technology with the release of more Knockout ZFNs covering the entire genomes of both mice and rats while reducing by half the pricing of products within the CompoZr ZFN portfolio. A new dedicated high-throughput manufacturing center, together with advances in ZFN design algorithms and production processes, has led to cost reductions in the development and production for both CompoZr Custom and Knockout ZFNs. Sigma® Life Science launches genetically modified human cell lines for breast cancer research

Sigma® Life Science and Kraig Biocraft Laboratories to Develop Silkworms for the Production of Spider Silk

(KBLB) to develop genetically modified silkworms for the production of spider silk, using Sigma’s proprietary CompoZr Zinc Finger Nuclease (ZFN) technology. The transfer of silk genes from the spider to the silkworm is expected to allow the mass production of silk with enhanced strength and elasticity with potential textiles and biomedical applications, such as sutures, tendon and ligament repair, bulletproof vests, and automobile airbags.

Sigma Life Science & Cofactor Genomics develop rat genome database
