Recipharm is bolstering its US operations through a new multi-million-dollar investment, set to expand its fill and finish capabilities for sterile manufacturing.

It not only strengthens the firm’s capacity to support production of biologics and advanced therapies across the product lifecycle but also help to accelerate development timelines.

The CDMO’s CEO, Greg Behar, said: “The demand for biologics and advanced therapies continues to accelerate, and manufacturers must be ready to meet that challenge with the right capacity, expertise and technology. By expanding our sterile manufacturing capabilities, we are investing in the infrastructure needed to support the next wave of pharmaceutical innovation.

“This investment enables us to support more programmes from development through commercial supply, while strengthening our ability to help customers scale efficiently and accelerate timelines. The US remains a critical market for our customers, and these investments position Recipharm as a partner of choice for companies bringing the next generation of therapies to patients.”

Additionally, Recipharm has enhanced its aseptic manufacturing platform for customers in North America and Europe. This decision is intended to boost operational flexibility and enable rapid technology transfer and faster development pathways for complex sterile products.

To support efficient scale-up and seamless progression throughout the product lifecycle, Recipharm is broadening its sterile manufacturing services to provide integrated support spanning API compounding, analytical transfer and validation, process characterisation, process performance qualification (PPQ), and aseptic fill and finish manufacturing.

In February, Recipharm sold its API development and small-scale manufacturing facility in Yavne, Israel to Scinai Immunotherapeutics. The agreement is part of a long-term partnership with the biopharma and CDMO, who agreed to take over ownership of the site. It positions Scinai to act as Recipharm’s preferred early-stage development partner and Recipharm as Scinai’s preferred late-stage manufacturing partner.

Another CDMO who has invested in their US operations over the past year is Hovione. Last November, the company expanded capabilities at its manufacturing site in New Jersey, channelling $100 million to double its spray drying capacity.
