SGS has expanded its Saint-Benoît laboratory in France, bringing the total footprint to nearly 4,500m² of modernised space, as they scale up bioanalytical capacity to meet increasing complex drug development programmes.
SGS has expanded its Saint-Benoît laboratory near Poitiers, France, increasing its bioanalytical capacity to support larger studies and increasingly complex drug development programmes.
The expansion adds 500m² to the facility and, alongside renovations to existing areas, brings the laboratory’s total footprint to nearly 4,500m² of modernised laboratory space. The investment is intended to increase capacity for growing sample volumes and large-scale studies across preclinical and clinical development.
The Saint-Benoît laboratory has supported pharmaceutical development programmes for more than 35 years and provides bioanalytical services across the drug development lifecycle. Its capabilities include the quantification of small molecules, monoclonal antibodies, biologics, antibody-drug conjugates and RNA-based therapies, alongside pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies, immunogenicity testing, biomarker assessment and radioimmunoassays.
The expanded facility operates in accordance with international Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards, generating data to support drug development and regulatory requirements. SGS said the additional capacity and operational flexibility will enable the laboratory to manage more complex programmes while maintaining quality and turnaround times.
SGS is also continuing to invest in automation and digitalisation at the site, alongside collaborations with academic partners including the University of Poitiers.

The investment forms part of SGS’s wider expansion of its pharmaceutical and bioanalytical capabilities, following further investments in its global laboratory network this year, including the acquisition of US bioanalytical testing provider CMIC, INC. in June.
