This webcast will discuss the benefits and applications of handheld Raman, including the reasons the industry is interested in the technology, data integrity, method development, how samples are scanned, and challenges that have been conquered. Dr. Katherine A. Bakeev is the Director of Analytical Services and Support for B&W Tek at their headquarters in Newark, Delaware. Dr. Bakeev is responsible for creating and growing a services business unit focused on analytical services and technical support for B&W Tek’s molecular spectroscopy instruments.
Prior to joining B&W Tek in 2013 she was the Chief Scientist for CAMO Software Inc., applying her knowledge of spectroscopy and data analysis to solving diverse problems, supporting customers, consulting and teaching. She has many years of industrial experience in the electronics, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Sulaf Assi (Associate lecturer in Forensic sciences, Bournemouth University)
Handheld Raman spectroscopy for identification of online drug products
Dr Sulaf Assi is an associate lecturer in forensic sciences at Bournemouth University, Bournemouth- UK. She obtained her Bachelor and MSc in Pharmacy from Beirut Arab University, Beirut- Lebanon. After this, she pursued her PhD in pharmaceutical analysis from the School of Pharmacy University of London, London- UK. Then she undertook a postdoctoral fellowship position in drug misuse and abuse at the department of Pharmacy, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield – UK.
Her recent research work is dedicated to developing rapid and non-destructive techniques for identification of counterfeit medicines. Her research interests include pharmaceutical analysis, counterfeit medicines, novel psychoactive substances, spectroscopy and chemometrics.
